Save Money for College When You Buy Things

As I was sitting on the shuttle bus from the San Diego airport to the Avis rental car place, I noticed a sign advertising a program called Upromise, where you can save money for college based on your purchases.

When you purchase something from a company who is part of the program, such as BestBuy.com, you get a certain percentage back to go towards your college education. So all you need to do is use your credit card, and anything that is eligible will go straight to your Upromise account.

Some of the companies that are part of the program are:
  • Ebay.com
  • JCPenny.com
  • Walmart.com
  • BestBuy.com
  • Avis Rental Car
  • Budget Rental Car
  • Bed Bath & Beyond
  • Eddie Bauer
  • When you buy certain products such as Nestles Tollhouse Morsels, Florida Naturals Orange Juice, etc
That is just a small number of the companies and brands that are participating. It's free to sign up, so there's nothing to lose. You don't even need to have children. You can help others out. For example, my friend had a baby and asked all of her relatives to sign up for the program and specify her child on the account. More savings that way!

To sign up just click the picture at the top that says "join free", or the link at the bottom of this post.
